Guangxi: The Land of Karst Peaks and Hidden Waters

Located in South China, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is a masterpiece of nature. It is world-renowned for its ethereal karst mountains that rise abruptly from emerald rivers, particularly along the Li River. Beyond its iconic scenery, Guangxi is a cultural tapestry, home to the largest population of ethnic minorities in China, including the Zhuang, Miao, and Yao. From the terraced rice fields of Longji to the industrial gardens of Liuzhou, it is a region where ancient traditions and dramatic landscapes define the soul of the South.

2010 - my first visit

I visited Guangxi i 2010 where I went to Nanning, Liuzhou and on the river cruise down Lijiang river fra Guilin to Yangzhuo.
My best expierence was a visit to some schools in Liuzhou.

Bac in 2016

I 2016 I visited Guilin and Yangzhuo again with Qu and her daughter Yangzi. In Yangzhuo we watch a Zhang Yimou water and dance performance- very spectactular.
We also had qiute a bumpy ride up to the ricepaddies at Longji.

About this photoalbum

In February 2026, I reorganized my entire collection of photos from my travels in China spanning 2009 to 2025. Previously, the images were sorted by year, with locations nested under each trip.

However, analytics show that more than 80% of my visitors come from China and Singapore. For them —and hopefully for many others— I believe this new structure is much more intuitive. The photos are now organized by location, with provinces and major cities as the primary categories. Under each destination, you will find subfolders for the specific years and months of my visits.
